Bishop Eustace got playoff payoff against the team that ousted it from the
first round last year, scoring three goals in the second period to down Bergen
Catholic 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Ice Hockey State Playoffs Friday
at Codey Arena in West Orange.
Chris Tracy assisted the first goal scored by Anthony Mariani and Kevin Harding and Tracy also tallied a goal each to put the Crusaders up 3-0 after two periods.
Tracy would add another in the last period.
Crusaders
goalie Nick Casella endured 33 shots, saving 32, including a flurry during a
Bergen Catholic two-man powerplay.
Bishop Eustace had held a 0-2-1 record against Bergen Catholic this year, losing the last two.
The win advances the Crusaders (15-7-4) to the semifinals to play top seed Delbarton at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Mennen Arena in Morristown.
